Chelsea midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka has undergone surgery after sustaining a knee injury.
Chukwuemeka sustained the injury during Chelsea’s Premier League clash at West Ham United on Sunday. He scored the equalizer before being forced off during half-time as Chelsea fell to a 3-1 defeat.
“Carney underwent surgery and will now begin his recovery,” Chelsea said in a statement.
The 19-year-old will work with the club’s medical department on his rehabilitation at Cobham (Chelsea’s training ground).
Chukwuemeka, however, did assure that he will be back stronger despite being reportedly set to miss at least six months of action.

He becomes the latest senior player on Chelsea’s injury list, joining club captain Reece James, new signing Christopher Nkunku, Trevor Chalobah and Wesley Fofana.
